SPLINTERS OF BROKEN SILENCE

I visited Syria for the first time in 2010.
Exotics, hot climate, interesting culture and history, and unbelievable hospitality of local people impressed me so much, I immediately fell in love with this country.
And I have always wanted to come back again. The return has finally happened, but this time, in form of a business trip.
In early 2012, after a series of antigovernment protests, a civil war began. The country was split into two opposing camps. Then there were more trips. The impending catastrophe and the chaos of war replaced fragile peace and tranquillity in this suffering country. The future of Syria and its citizen has disappeared in puffs from another exploding shell. The country I was in love with a few years ago turned into splinters. Those are the splinters of broken silence.
